It's all about HYGGE this fall & winter!
Have you noticed the wave of attention the Danish concept of hygge has received recently? It's all Europe & the U.K. can talk about as the fall has arrived and the winter approaches. We're making sure the U.S. catches on to this cozy trend as well. Hygge, simply put, is the "Danish way to live well," which is written on the cover of Meik Wiking's new book: The Little Book of Hygge. One of 11 books to be released this year!
I first learned of the concept while visiting Copenhagen five years ago. It was incredible to experience the Danish way of life, and to discover that they have an actual word to describe their cozy, comfortable and meaningful way of living: Hygge. I knew it was something special that was worth sharing with my family and friends, and quickly thereafter Hygge Life was born.
Now, hygge is spreading faster than ever before. The Danish seem to be capturing the attention of many, not surprisingly, since Denmark ranks number 1 in the UN World Happiness Report year after year. In the U.K. the concept is catching on like wildfire; hygge is even a topic taught at some English universities! A recent video on the topic, posted by THE GUARDIAN, has been watched over 3,5 million times.
This year alone, 11 books will be published all about hygge. If you’re looking for some warm, inspirational winter reading for the holiday season, pick a title from our list below or give one as a gift to a loved one and spread the hygge life. Happy hygge reading!
